A core part of our mission at Deliverect is to always do our best to foster an environment where our colleagues feel welcomed and free to be themselves.

As conversations about diversity, equity and inclusion (D, E and I) took place across the globe last year, many folks took the time to examine the ways they can better support colleagues from underrepresented, and oftentimes marginalised, communities both in society and in their places of work.

While D, E and I have long been a priority at the highest levels of Deliverect, as we enter Pride Month, we also understand there are ways we can do more to educate our team members and ensure everyone, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity, feels supported and included in our business. We believe all stars are made to sparkle – that’s why we’re excited to celebrate Pride Month.

Bingo Eleganza Extravaganza

To kick things off, we had drag queen super star Charlie Hides, of RuPaul’s Drag Race fame, join us for an exciting round of virtual ‘Drag Queen Bingo’ – an hour-long live interactive game of bingo for fellow astronauts to join the various games, songs, jokes and dances.

Knowledge is (PRIDE) Power

Throughout the month, we’ve made education a core part of our Pride curriculum and have shared bite-sized ‘Pride Fact’ cards in the group Slack channel highlighting fun, eye opening and/or historical facts about the LGBTQIA+ community. These facts are also incorporated into a dedicated D, E and I section of our weekly company-wide newsletter to maximise exposure within our team.

For example, did you know: Adding a “+” to LGBTQIA acknowledges and includes non-cisgender and non-straight identities who traditionally were not included in the acronym. The “+” acts as an umbrella term for people who have non-normative gender identity or sexual orientation.

Pride Parties

We’re HUGE fans of entertainment and pop culture at Deliverect, so we have compiled a ‘staff picks’ selection of the top 10 LGBTQIA+ artists/tracks to listen to this month (and beyond!). Some of our favourite picks include:

  •   My Oasis by Sam Smith (ft. Burna Boy)
  •   Sun Goes Down by Lil Nas X
  •   Chosen Family by Rina Sawayama and Elton John
  •   Starstruck by Years & Years

To close out the month’s festivities, we’ll host a virtual Pride Carnival on Thursday 24th June for the whole company. Everyone will have delivered to them a cocktail or mocktail of their choice to spend an afternoon celebrating Pride month as well as the wider team’s recent successes. Activities include a Queer History quiz (based on our Pride Fact cards), an air guitar contest and lipsync battles.

Beyond Pride Month, we’re dedicated to making the world a better place for all people, with a strong focus within our company culture on diversity, inclusion and belonging that starts from our recruitment process. Over the last year, we’ve invested significant resources in our D, E and I programme. We’ve upskilled our team through a dedicated LGBTQIA+ inclusivity training, and all supervisors and managers must attend mandatory unconscious bias training. We continually review internal policy to ensure Deliverect continues to earn its reputation as a great place to work and that we remain dedicated to driving genuine and sustained change that support marginalised communities.

We’re proud of our work so far and grateful for the support derived from the wider Deliverect team as our business continues to grow.
