How does SkipTheDishes work?


Just like Uber Eats, Deliveroo, and other well-known delivery service providers in the food industry, SkipTheDishes takes care of the entire delivery process. All your restaurant needs to do is cook.

So how does that work?

Customers order food from your restaurant through the SkipTheDishes website or app. Once finalized (and paid), the order is sent to your restaurant, where it is accepted and prepared.

When the order is ready to go, SkipTheDishes couriers collect it from your restaurant and deliver it to the customer - who can track their order in realtime from start to finish.

Alternatively, customers can also choose pickup, collecting their food directly at the restaurant.


Registering and setup


Registering with Skip is pretty straightforward. Here are the steps you’ll need to follow:

  1. Head to Skipthedishes.com and select “Restaurant owners” in the footer

  2. Fill out your restaurant’s name and address

  3. Add (optional) info about your restaurant’s location type

  4. Complete some basic contact information (your name, phone number, email address and job title or affiliation with the restaurant)

  5. Add a link to your restaurant’s menu (optional)

  6. Review your info and submit your application

After submitting your application, you’ll be contacted by SkipTheDishes to get you set up.

Fees and commissions


SkipTheDishes doesn’t charge anything to start up. The only up-front cost is your Skip-specific tablet, which has been set up for you in advance. However, you can also choose to work with a tablet of your own instead.

SkipTheDishes’ restaurant partners pay a commission fee on every order made through the platform. The commission percentage you pay can vary depending on the type of contract you have, your location, the number of online orders you do every week or month, etc. Generally speaking, you’re looking at a commission fee of between 20 and 30%.


Tips to rank higher on SkipTheDishes


With tens of thousands of restaurants on the SkipTheDishes platform, it can get pretty competitive. While Skip’s exact ranking algorithms aren’t public knowledge, there are a few things you can do to make sure you attract customers and show up higher on the list

Also important for your in-app ranking is your acceptance rate. Restaurants that often reject orders, are penalized for doing so. One surefire way to convince people to order, is by curating and optimizing your menu

Add clear menu item descriptions and attractive photos, and verify if your prices are reasonable compared to your competitors and in-store prices. If a menu item isn’t landing well, remove it or replace it with another dish.

Your conversion rate, together with your general performance metrics (like your acceptance rate, online ratio, order prep times, etc.) are used by SkipTheDishes to create your Skip Score. App users can filter by Skip score, so the higher your score, the higher your ranking will be.
